Our Beliefs

The Board, Pastors, and Leaders of Harvest Village Ministries Family Church (HVMFC), believe all people are:
1) Created by God for His glory
2) Are satisfied and fulfilled when He is most glorified
Further, we recognize our responsibility to lead our church family according to the truth of God’s Word. Lastly, and most importantly, we are committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by which every heart can be purified, every sin forgiven, and every life transformed into one of beauty, peace, and eternal life.

We recognize there are many current social issues that are complex and pose a challenge to individuals and to the church. They pose a challenge to the individual by causing confusion of who and what God created them to be and they pose a challenge to the church by not lining up the written word of God (Bible – NASB or ESV is the HVMFC standard). This is a broken world where the deceitfulness of sin with its promised pleasures can too easily lure people into compromised thinking and destructive behavior. We recognize that some in our family may bear scars from past decisions and actions. We also strongly believe and teach that no behavior lies outside the forgiving grace of Jesus Christ for those who acknowledge and turn from their sin. We also believe that recognizing and resisting temptation in the first place is greatly preferable.

While we intend for Harvest Village Ministries Family Church (HVMFC) to be a safe place for ongoing growth and discussion, we affirm the following convictions concerning the social issues of our day so that all who attend our church will know where we stand and what we teach on the various subjects. The Scriptural support provided for each section is to be understood in its broader context and also as representative of the vast biblical material that could be presented as grounds for our beliefs.

God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe
He has eternally existed in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. These three are tri-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19;1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ (God)
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is tri-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

God The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is tri-equal with the Father and the Jesus (Son of God). He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He give every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25;
Ephesians 5:18

The Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

Human Beings
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5;

Eternal Security
God gives us eternal life through your acceptance of Jesus Christ and Lord and Savior, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10-14; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9

We believe mankind descended from Adam and Eve who were specially and uniquely created and intentionally designed as male and female to bear his image as the crowning work of creation. As such, all human life is sacred and worthy of respect and Christian (biblical) love.

Genesis 1:26-28; James 3:8,9; Psalm 104:10-15, 27-31; Genesis 9:5,6; Exodus 20:13; Psalm 8

Sanctity of Life
We believe human life begins at the moment of conception and continues until God’s predetermined number of days for that life are completed. We believe in the sanctity of life (moment of conception), and therefore we are opposed to abortions, and all forms of Human euthanasia.

Genesis 2:7; Deuteronomy 30: 19; Psalm 139:13-16; Job 30:23; Ecclesiastes 7:14; 8:8; 1 Corinthians 15:26, 54-56; Hebrews 2:9, 14,15; Revelation 21:4

Since we believe God specifically designed mankind as male and female and specifically chose the gender He wanted you to live with in this lifetime. We stand opposed to intentional actions that would alter or disguise one’s gender.

Genesis 1:26-28, 31; 2:25; Deuteronomy 22:5; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

We believe God ordained marriage to be the covenant, legal, and lifelong relationship between one man (born male) and one (born female) woman, as described in the Bible. Anything outside of biblical marriage is not of God and therefore not backed by HVMFC as it is a church built on the foundation of God’s Word (The Holy Bible). HVMFC will only perform biblically based marriages.

Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-9; Romans 1:21-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 7:1-4; 1 Timothy 1:8-11

Human Sexuality
We believe human sexuality is a natural and honorable part of God’s creation and that marriage between one (born male) man and one (born female) woman is the only context in which sexual relations are God-honoring. All sexual activity outside of marriage, as defined above, is forbidden by God. Additionally, pornography, including all forms of literature, photography, art, movies and songs intended to stimulate illicit sexual thoughts or actions, should have no place in the lives of Christ-followers.

With that being said: the board, pastors, and leaders of HVMFC believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior and/or attitudes directed toward any individual(s) who live a lifestyle that does not adhere to God’s biblical standards is NOT ACCEPTABLE and is not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of this church, PERIOD. Our Goal is to teach the Word of God and help disciple Christians in living a life that honors Jesus Christ. We cannot show the love of Christ Jesus by hating people. Remember at one time in all of our lives we all fell short of the Glory of God and only through Christ Jesus can we be redeemed.
