Who Or What Is Guiding Your Perspective?

The holiday season is upon us and for some of us it is a wonderful time of year and for others it is the worst time of year. When looking at what we consider to be a good time or bad time is a subjective statement because this is simply all based in opinion. What we really should be focused on is what forms our opinions because your opinions are formed from your perspective on life.
(For example): (crudely stated on purpose), ‘if I believe being homeless is my joy filled happy place in life and I have met my goal by being homeless – then I should be happy in life’. It is your perspective on a situation that makes all of the difference! Personally, I cannot fathom being homeless because I would like to have a warm house to live in, so if it was me in this situation I would not be satisfied at all.

From a very young age we all have been feeding or telling ourselves some form of story. (For example): ‘when I grow up I want to be a father, mother, fireman, doctor, policeman, teacher, I want to have kids, house, cars, etc.’ This is all fine and dandy when things work out as you planned but a lot of times life gets in the way of your plans and your plans do not work out as planned. Many of us are left with so many questions of ‘WHY’ when what we hoped for seems to have disintegrated right before are very eyes, God’s Word tells us in (Proverbs 13:12 ‘hope deferred makes the heart sick…’). Some of us who have set these personal goals for our lives are heartbroken because we have not accomplished what we though we should have accomplished at this point in life.

(Quick Story): I know of a lady who wanted to be a doctor growing up but she starting a family early with her husband and rearing her children elevated itself higher then her calling of being a doctor. At that specific point and time in her life she felt as if her talents were not being used as she thought they would be used. In turn she used to feel like she was just existing and not doing the important work that she thought she would do.
A few of the ways the young lady worked on getting past this line of thinking;
She had to work on changing her perspective of what she thought success was.
She spent a lot of time in prayer in seeking the Lord’s guidance on her God given purpose in life (Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future).
She also had to see that the work that she was doing now (as in being a stay home mom and rearing her children and providing support for her husband) as important work. She had to change her perspective (outlook) before she was able to see (understand) any success so far in her life story.

I wonder sometimes if we sought God and His purpose for our lives would we be disappointed in what He purposes us to do compared to what we want to do? Is it God’s purpose for our lives that we our suppose to live out or is it our purpose for our lives that we should live out? You Must Answer This For Yourself! Personally, I have chosen God’s purpose because I know from the Lord’s written Word (Bible) that His purpose for our lives is backed by His promise of having prosperous future (Jeremiah 29:11). We also know that our Lord’s Word is true, (Psalms 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does). God is faithful even if everybody else is faithless!
One thing that I have found in following God’s purpose for my life is that I will not give up on it no matter what, why? because I am waiting for the promise to take place. One thing I can count on with our Heavenly Father is that He will never fail to do what He said He is going to do (Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?) . So even if it looks like the promise is taking long to manifest itself – I know that it is coming if I do not let go of my faith in the promise that He has given to me. It is written in: (Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;)
